From  the Children

Mathematics is my favourite subject and I really enjoy it. Whenever I would ask my mother to buy me a pencil or a book, she would shout at me and say she has no money. But now, I have all the things I need to go to school. I go to school wearing my new uniform and I love it. I also got a lot of stationery like books, pencils, erasers and storybooks. Thankyou for giving me all these things and encouraging me to study well.

- Renuka, Class V, NBT Nagar Government school, Hyderabad (September 2006)

Until last year I had no uniform to wear to school. I would go to school without any books and pencils. Both my mother and father would not buy me stationery because they never seemed to have the money to buy them. I was working as a domestic servant in four houses. I really did not have any time to study. I wanted to study well but could not. This academic year Naandi Foundation sponsored my education and has given me uniforms, books, pencils and other stationery. Thankyou for supporting my education and giving me a chance to study better.

From the community

I am not educated so I do not know what is happening around me. I want my daughter to be well educated and independent. The Nanhi Kali programme has really come as a blessing to us. I thank Naandi for having this programme in my village.

From Partners and Donors

We are privileged to be associated with Naandi Foundation. The good work that Nanhi Kali programme does is an outstanding testimony to a responsible and contributing member of society.

- Madan Menon, Co-CEO, Barclays Bank, Mumbai (July 2006)

From my personal experience, girl children are the most neglected in majority of the families especially in the ones that are economically backward. But in my opinion women should be educated at least upto primary level so that they have the ability to understand what is going on around them, they don't need to be completely dependent on somebody else. I am very impressed with Naandi’s Nanhi Kali programme. I think they should scale up this programme to the entire country.
