Naandi commenced operations in 3 districts of Chhattisgarh - Kanker,
Dantewada and Bastar in 2006. We began the Ensuring Children Learn programme, on the
invitation of the state government, to provide academic support to children in government schools to improve their learning outcomes in math, science
and language.
Subsequently, backed by one of our donors, the girl child support programme, Nanhi Kali,
also began in the same regions that preferred to educate sons more than their daughters. Incidentally, Chhattisgarh
has the second highest female sex ratio (990 females per 1000 males) in the country.
