July 2008 marked Naandi's entry into the state of Haryana, in north India. This is the
9th state in which we are going to be working with the government.
The understanding here is that we together with the state and our technology partners will
be deploying the
Safe Drinking Water programme, which is underway in Andhra Pradesh
and Punjab as well. The Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda in approved a
tripartite partnership project to supply potable safe drinking water to 100 villages across the
state.
The project, which is a public private community partnership where, the state government,
Naandi Foundation with its technology partner TATA Projects and the village panchayats will
set up Community-based water purification plants in 100 villages across the state in phase I.
Setting up these Community-based Safe Drinking Water plants is an attempt to provide cleaner
and safe drinking water to the people who have been suffering with chemical contaminated water
for many years in Haryana.
